A Chinese national, Chen Zhiwei, has been taken into custody in connection with the confiscation of two kilograms of gold at Nagdhunga. Zhiwei, the suspected smuggler, had been residing in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu.
The Teku-based Kathmandu District Police Range reported the arrest of Zhiwei on Friday for further investigations and legal procedures. The incident resulted in the apprehension of three individuals by the police.
A team dispatched from the Central Investigation Bureau in Kathmandu apprehended three individuals, including Zhiwei, who were found in possession of two kilograms of gold at Nagdhunga. The arrested individuals are Gyalkhinchhe Tamang, Biru Tamang, and Sunil Bhujel from Gosaikunda, Rasuwa.
The seized gold was discovered in a Scorpio car with the license plate number 01-028-CH-2696, which was traveling from Rasuwa to Kathmandu.
