The remains of three out of the 10 students who tragically lost their lives in Israel on October 7 have been transported to Surkhet. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated the transfer of Prabesh Bhandari from Sharada Municipality-3, Salyan, as well as Padam Thapa from Lamikhal-8, Doti, and Rajan Phulara from Pachanali, Doti, to Surkhet using a Nepal Army helicopter. Bhandari’s body will further be taken to Dang, while Thapa and Phulara’s bodies will be flown to Doti by helicopter.
These students were among the 10 Nepali students who lost their lives during a surprise attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in the vicinity of Kibbutz Alumim, located in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip on October 7.
They were in Israel as part of the Israeli government’s “Learn and Earn” program, representing Far Western University. The bodies of the other seven students were previously brought back to Nepal and handed over to their families.
